Fun Spanish classes for little ones

Music and movement in child development

Our Spanish classes are also full of music and movement. Do you want to know why?

At Bilingual Beats we love hearing feedback from parents, teachers, nursery staff, managers and most importantly children. We particularly pride ourselves in how easily the little ones pick up a second language and this is down to our approach to bilinguism. A key feature of our lesson plans is the focus our teams put into not only delivering Spanish and French classes, but the massive input movement and music have in said sessions. This is supported by the scientific community too!

According to a study by Evridiki Zachopoulou, Aggeliki Tsapakidou and Vassiliki Derri about the effects of a developmentally appropriate music and movement program on motor performance , it has been proven that basic motor skills development is accomplished by the application of a variety of physical education modules. The study culminated that “ a developmentally appropriate music and movement program can positively affect jumping and dynamic balance of preschool children” . To read more about this visit

That’s why in our classes we offer opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills by delivering a lot of movement activities. Activities to develop gross motor skills include marching to the beat and variations such as marching to double the beat /half beats, jumping upbeat, activities involving dancing and freezing keeping the position and balance, dancing moving just one leg/one arm and then the other, etc. To develop fine motor skills we invite children to play instruments with just their fingertips, to move small parts of their body to the rhythm of the music, and much more.

Our programme is also inspired on the EYFS educational parameters. Our classes try to contribute towards the development of the 7 areas of the EYFS framework. There is a whole area dedicated to Physical Development and it is with no doubt that our classes have a huge input on the development of that area. Another area is Expressive Arts and Design and one of its purposes is to monitor and support children sing songs and make music and dance. Children are able to represent their own ideas, thoughts and feelings through music and dance, and we provide opportunities for that.
